Kardashev Scale

The future is likely to be stranger and more unpredictable than we can imagine.

We Are Summoning The Demon.

A documentary and journey into the future exploring the possibilities and predictions of artificial intelligence. This timelapse of the future explores what is coming, from robots that are too fast for humans to see, to A.I. bots from Microsoft (bringing back loved ones to life) and Google’s laMDA (replacing the need for online searches).

The Kardashev scale is a method of measuring a civilization’s level of technological advancement based on the amount of energy it is able to use.

The Kardashev scale has three designated categories, these are:

  • A Type I civilization, also called a planetary civilization, can use and store all of the energy available on its planet.
  • A Type II civilization, also called a stellar civilization, can use and control energy at the scale of its planetary system.
  • A Type III civilization, also called a galactic civilization, can control energy at the scale of its entire host galaxy.

At the current time, humanity has not yet reached Type I civilization status.

According to the astronomer Carl Sagan, humanity is currently going through a phase of technical adolescence, “typical of a civilization about to integrate the type I Kardashev Scale.”
