Pythagoras: Numerology

What is Pythagorean Numerology? Pythagoras was an ancient Greek philosopher who is widely regarded as the father of western Numerology. In this video, we look at 4 of his principles, and how understanding them, could have a dramatic impact on your life.
We’re often told that our world is random and incomprehensible. But what if there’s a different story? One that reveals that our universe has an astonishing level of order, that history only repeats itself, and that there are patterns all around us. The idea that our universe follows predictable cycles is very old, and one of these very early sources can be traced to Pythagoras.
He was remarkably far ahead of his time. Even from an early age, Pythagoras had unusually progressive ideas. He was a vegetarian and he believed in gender equality. He would become one of the first teachers to openly accept women students during a time when only men pursued formal education.
He was also the first person to suggest that the Earth was round. He discovered that the “morning star” and the “evening star” were actually the same object in the sky. And in fact, they weren’t stars at all, they were the planet, Venus. He did this without telescopes or any modern science. How is this possible?
Pythagoras’ insights would form the basis for what many consider to be his most important work: Numerology. It’s one of the oldest systems of knowledge. And it would lead Pythagoras to the belief that numbers have a divine essence.
He formulated four basic principles of numerology:
- The Universe is Mathematical
Pythagoras believed that numbers are the most basic elements in nature, and understanding them is the gateway to unlocking all of reality. This idea influenced a wide range of thinkers and scientists and remains one of the most central assumptions in science. - The Universe moves through Cycles
We find continuous cycles all around us, from the cycles of day and night to the seasons in the year. But these cycles also apply to you. Understanding your epicycle is critical to navigate the opportunities and challenges in your life. - The Power of Vibration
Pythagoras discovered that music and numbers are intimately connected, and everything in the universe is in a state of constant vibration, which called “musica universalis” or the music of the spheres. This finds support in a scientific concept in physics known as string theory. But again, this idea also extends to you. You are constantly vibrating with your own unique energy. - The Transmigration of Souls
Pythagoras believed that we are all immortal souls. But what evidence is there to suggest that souls exist? We look at research from Dr. Sam Parnia and the astonishing story of Dr. Tony Cicoria.
